July/August 2009 Feature Team: Rhinestone Rockers
|
The Rhinestone Rockers consist of members from Alleghany County
and Covington, Virginia. They began clogging together in January of
2008. A group of six eventually grew into 15 and the new group was
lining performances in Virginia, as well as West Virginia - pageants,
festivals, parties, local parades, Relay For Life events and more. They
enjoy dancing to a variety of music genres from country and blue grass
to rock, pop and hip hop while always donning their "rocker" theme.
"We clog for the enjoyment and for the fun of it.", says instructor
Amanda Hawse. The team practices weekly at two local dance studios.
"We pride ourselves on entertaining the crowd, dancing for the pure
enjoyment and for the bond we have made with each other. Our group is
like a big family! We come from a majority of different backgrounds and
interests but have come together to form this team and dance together to
have a great time." - Amanda Hawse, RR Instructor
